From the Ground Up: Building a Home with Heart

Together, We Create What's Possible

Dear friends and fellow humans,

As you may have read in our recent newsletter, we continue to support the Children of Grace in Uganda, an initiative close to our hearts and one that is growing in the most beautiful ways. Just last night, our dear sister Ambika sent us a new update, and we'd love to share it with you. The news is full of joy and potential.

Please take a moment to read this and reflect on it. Let it land, look at it not from a place of pity or distance, but from your heart. Whether you feel moved to make a physical donation or not, your imagination and your presence matter. Envision this story through the lens of abundance and possibility, like holding space for creation. What becomes possible when humans come together with care and intention. That, in itself, is powerful.

From School Dreams to Reality

This small community project began with a simple yet urgent desire: to provide orphaned and vulnerable children in rural Uganda with a sense of safety, stability, and a sense of belonging. Over time, with the support of people like you, it evolved into something far more meaningful, a home, a routine, and a chance at a future.

Earlier this year, 18 children were able to attend school. By the time the new term started in May, all 32 children had enrolled. That's a milestone we once only hoped for, and now it's real.

Ambika wrote:

"If you see their faces, you see how different reality feels now just 1.5 years later, with a completely new life that has begun for all of them."

Alongside education, each child now receives a proper lunch at school. The inside walls of their shared home have undergone a slight, yet concrete improvement that brings a massive sense of stability. And after months of dreaming, the kitchen is finally being built. Meals that once depended on borrowed stoves or outdoor fires will soon come from a kitchen of their own.

Moments of Grace

Of course, like with any grassroots effort, there are moments of pause. Recently, the kitchen construction had to stop due to lack of funds. It was a quiet, uncertain time.

"I made a small call inside the channel," Ambika shared, "and then a dear sister, a godmother of this project, invited her friends to donate for her birthday... and suddenly, all the money we needed to fully equip and build the kitchen was there. I just laughed for long minutes in pure joy and gratitude."

These moments of community, generosity, and unexpected timing have become the heartbeat of this project. Not grand gestures, but steady steps. Not charity, but shared care.

What's Next: A Place to Rest

Now, the next chapter is unfolding, and it's as basic as it is vital: beds.

Currently, many children sleep wherever there's space, often two or three to a single mattress. Giving them a proper place to rest is not only a matter of comfort, but of dignity, health, and emotional well-being.

To support this, we are raising funds for:

  • 4 triple bunk beds (€200 each when bought together)

  • 12 new mattresses (€50 each)

Thanks to recent donations, part of this is already covered. What remains is around €1,100—a reachable goal, especially when shared among us.

This next step could come from:

  • 110 people giving €10

  • 55 people giving €20

  • 22 people giving €50

  • 11 people giving €100

"Whatever way it will be," Ambika says, "it will be magical, beautiful, and received with so much love and gratitude, a heart medicine we can't buy in our pharmacies."

Even a small gift helps. If each person reading this gave just €10, we could complete the beds and offer a nourishing meal this week, something more than plain rice, something warm and joyful.

Suppose you'd like to stay more closely connected. In that case, I invite you to join Ambika's Telegram channel, where she shares regular updates, videos, and messages from the children:

There, you'll also find their dreams and what they wish to become one day. A teacher, a nurse, a farmer. A future that's already beginning.

Thank You

This story may begin in Uganda, but it touches on something universal: our shared human need to feel safe, nourished, and cared for. Thank you for being part of this by giving, imagining, and remembering what's possible when we act from the heart.

With deep gratitude and care,

The Children of Grace, Muleme, Ambika, and all of us walking this path together

—and with love from the Holistic Practice team
